Admission Procedure

Admission were made for UG/PG and Super Specialitiy courses under Medicine and Dentistry on merit-based NEET score through common counselling done Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), New Delhi.

For the courses VIZ Nursing, Physiotherapy, Allied Health Sciences and Humanities and Science admissions and done on merit basis.

SUPER SPECIALITY

  • Course Duration : 3 years
  • Admission Procedure: Through National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by NTA
  • D.M. (DOCTOR OF MEDICINE) for which candidates must possess recognized degree of M.D. (or its equivalent recognized degree) in the subject from a recognized Medical College.
  • M.Ch. (MASTER OF CHIRURGIE) for which candidates must possess recognized degree of M.S. (or its equivalent recognized degree) in the subjects from a recognized Medical College.

Medicine

THE POST- GRADUATE DEGREES (MD/MS)

MD (Doctor of Medicine) and MS (Master of Surgery), are offered post MBBS in India. The MD programme duration is 3 years in India. The admission to MD/MS is granted to candidates who qualifies in NEET PG entrance examination conducted by National Board of Examinations (NBE).

MBBS

  • The National Testing Agency will prepare an All India Merit List of successful candidates of NEET (UG) on the basis of the eligibility criteria provided by the Board of Governors in Supersession of Medical Council of India and Dental Council of India as given in Graduate Medical Education Regulations-1997 issued under Indian Medical Council Act- 1956 The eligibility criteria are as follows :
  • Admission to MBBS Degree Courses shall be based solely on marks obtained in the National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (NEET–UG).

AGE LIMIT (As per the NEET UG).

  • Candidates should have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or should complete that age on or before 31st December of that year.
  • To be eligible for admission to the MBBS Courses, a candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology at the Qualifying Examination as mentioned in Graduate Medical Education Regulations-1997 as amended in 2018 in addition must have come in the merit list of National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for admission to MBBS Courses.
  • In respect of the candidates belonging to the SC, ST and OBC category, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology taken in qualifying examination and competitive examination (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) must be 40% marks instead of 50%.
  • In respect of candidates with Bench Mark Disabilities specified under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, the minimum marks in qualifying examination in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-Technology taken together must be 45% instead of 50% for Unreserved category candidates and 40% for SC / ST / OBC candidates.
  • In order to be eligible for admission to MBBS / BDS Courses for a particular academic year, it shall be necessary for a candidate to obtain minimum of marks at 50th percentile in National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test to MBBS / BDS Courses held for the said academic year.
  • However, in respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, the minimum marks shall be at 40th percentile. In respect of candidates with Bench Mark Disabilities specified under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, the minimum marks shall be at 45th percentile for unreserved category candidates and 40th percentile for SC / ST / OBC candidates.
  • The MBBS is a 5.5-year (4.5 years academic education + 1-year mandatory internship) UG degree programme leading to the two degrees as Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.

Dentistry

MDS

  • The MDS course duration is generally three years, however, there is a provision of two years MDS course for candidates who have passed Post Graduate Diploma course recognized by the (Dental Council of India) DCI of the duration of two years in a particular speciality.
  • Candidates who qualifies in NEET PG entrance examination conducted by National Board of Examinations (NBE).

BDS

  • BDS Course Regulations, 2007 issued under the Dentists Act, 1948. The eligibility criteria are as follows
  • Admission to BDS Degree Courses shall be based solely on marks obtained in the National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (NEET–UG). In addition, must have come in the merit list of National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for admission to BDS Courses. In respect of the candidates belonging to the SC, ST and OBC category, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology taken in qualifying examination and competitive examination (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) must be 40% marks instead of 50%.

Nursing

B. Sc (Nursing):4 years

Additional Qualification

  • Pass in Higher Secondary Course with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology with not less than 45% aggregate marks.
  • Candidates should have completed 17 years of age and should not have completed 30 years as on 31st December. SC / SCA / ST candidates should not have completed 35 years as on 31st December.
  • Indian Nursing Council, the last date for admission to B.Sc. Nursing Course is 31st October 2019

Paramedical Degree Courses (Allied Health Science)

B.Sc. Radiology & Imaging Technology / B.Sc. Cardio Pulmonary Technology / B.Sc Perfusion Technology / B.Sc Medical Laboratory Technology / B.Sc Anaesthesia Technology /B.Sc Physician Assistant / B.Sc Respiratory Therapy / B.Sc Renal Dailysis Technology/ B.Sc Bio Medical Science

  • Candidates should have passed in all the subjects of the qualifying Examination of the Higher Secondary Course conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board or any other Equivalent Board in a single sitting in the following group of subjects with minimum eligible marks. (OC/BC/BCM/MBC/DNC Candidates: Pass in H.S.C. in all the subjects with not less than 40% aggregate marks. For SC/SCA/ST Candidates: Pass in H.S.C.)
  • (a) Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. (or) (b) Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics with any other subject.
  • A failure in examination/ reappearance/ first appearance in compartment in one or more subjects will be treated as an attempt and they will not be eligible.

Physiotherapy / Occupational Therapy

B.P. T / B.O.T : 4 years + 6 Months (Internship)

B.P.T / B.O.T

  • Candidates should have passed in all the subjects of the qualifying Examination of the Higher Secondary Course conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board or any other Equivalent Board in a single sitting in the following group of subjects with minimum eligible marks. (OC/BC/BCM/MBC/DNC Candidates: Pass in H.S.C. in all the subjects with not less than 40% aggregate marks. For SC/SCA/ST Candidates: Pass in H.S.C.)
  • (a) Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. (or) (b) Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics with any other subject.
  • Candidates should have completed 17 years of age and should not have completed 32 years as on 31st December. For SC/SCA/ST candidates’ maximum age is enhanced to 37 years. Evidence should be produced.

FACULTY OF HUMANITIES & SCIENCE

Academic year shall be divided into two semesters. The odd semester shall consist of the period from June to November and the even semesters from December to April of each year. There shall be not less than 90 working hours for each subject.

The Bachelor's Degree Program requires SIX SEMESTERS of study. Among other requirements, a student has to earn a minimum of 140 credits to acquire a Degree. The Undergraduate Program is divided into Four Parts.
