To commemoratethe National organ donation month of July 2024 , we , the Department of General Surgery, under the guidance of Dr. P S Saravanan, Professor & HOD., Dept. Of general surgery organized a series of events , distributed throughout the month to raise awareness and educate the general public about the merits of organ donation and scarcity of donors. We started off with a public rally , following it up with a undergraduate quiz contest after which we had a post graduate symposium on various technical, medical and legislative issues surrounding organ transplantation. In the last week of July we carried out the public awareness meeting which was attended by Dean, RMO and V.P and had Dr Selvaraj , Hod of Urology as the chief guest. We ran the final lap by ending this eventful month with a CME on organ donation with 3 remarkable speakers – Dr Gowthaman , RENAL transplant surgeon and Dr Elankumaran , LIVER transplant specialist and Dr Boopathy , Medical superintendent, Hod and Professor of Department of plastic and reconstructive surgery. All the speakers had wonderful presentations and enthralled the audience with their brilliant experts. This marked the end of organ donation month with a final request to all audience members to pledge their organs and exhibit their benevolence by becoming an organ donor .
