Early Research Exposure:

Meenakshi Ammal Dental College and Hospital – Awarded highest number of research projects in Tamilnadu by Indian Council of Medical Research in 2022: A total of 20 projects of the total 300 projects were awarded to Meenakshi Ammal Dental College and Hospital, MAHER under the Short-Term Studentship 2022, a flagship project of Indian Council of Medical Research for promoting undergraduate students. This is the highest number of projects that was awarded to a dental college in Tamilnadu. This is an evidence for the emphasis on research culture in MAHER.

Holistic development of students:

OVERALL CHAMPIONS CONSECUTIVELY FOR SIX YEARS: “MIDAS” is an annual extravaganza hosted by Indian Dental Association and is a mix of sports, cultural events and scientific sessions in competitive mode which attracts students of dental fraternity from across the state. Meenakshi Ammal Dental College, MAHER has been performing consistently and has been the overall champions for six consecutive years since 2016. This remarkable feat is a testimony to supportive environment that exists in the institution towards holistic development of the students beyond curriculum requirements.

No 1 Event destination:

Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute, MAHER hosts a range of academic, scientific, research and cultural events throughout the year which is facilitated by one of the largest auditoriums in the State.  The robustness of the auditorium is evidenced by the fact that this auditorium is the venue of choice for many government ceremonies that are planned in Kanchipuram district.

International Collaboration: One among the two dental colleges in South India to collaborate with CCI

Meenakshi Ammal Dental College and Hospital, MAHER has been recognized by Cleft Children Internationale (CCI) a philanthropic organization based in Switzerland since 2003. Ours is one among the two dental colleges in South India to have consistently collaborated with CCI. The center has grown to become a Center of Excellence which is christened as Meenakshi Institute of Facial Aesthetics and Craniofacial Excellence (MI FACE). 

Passion to spread patriotism:

MAHER places huge emphasis on producing graduates who are responsible citizens of the country and the world. This conviction reflects in the efforts and actions taken by the institution. Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute, MAHER has the tallest flag post of Kanchipuram district. Standing at an impressive height of 105 feet, the flag post stands as an epitome of spreading patriotism among students, scholars and staff.

Commitment to “Health for All”

The Faculty of Physiotherapy, MAHER was the pioneer in the State to Tamilnadu to introduce mandatory rural posting for students during their training period. This reflects the institution’s commitment to provide “Health for All” by taking health care services to the disadvantaged sections of the society, thereby striving towards equity in health care. Apart from receiving widespread appreciation from the Government, the students acquire on-field training in infrastructure-deficit settings thereby making them more versatile.

Placing people health in peoples’ hands:

Empowering people to take care of themselves is the most sustainable method of health care. The Faculty of Physiotherapy, MAHER has a distinctive practice of creating self help stations in remote villages which can be used by people themselves or under the guidance of skilled persons who were trained earlier by the Staff. In case of any doubts, the skiller worker get connected with the experts at Faculty of Physiotherapy through video call to get know about specific remedy to the given ailment.

Only Private Institution in Tamilnadu selected for Yoga Mahotsav 2022

The Faculty of Yoga Science and Therapy, MAHER was the only private institute in the state of Tamilnadu to be selected for organizing the Yoga Mahotsav for the year 2022 by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India with a fund of Rs 1,50,000. This recognition shows the conscientious efforts of the institution to spread our culture and way of life across the country.

Reaching new heights and setting World records

Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute in collaboration with The Bridge Vellore set a new record in the Jetlee Book of Records for the “ Maximum number of students to stand in kidney shape with ‘Prevention to Detection’ to create awareness on World Kidney Day 2020”.

In the Faculty of Humanities and Science, MAHER,  Ms. Priyadharshini. from B.Com (General) enthralled the audience and created a new record in yoga by holding the Mermaid pose for a whopping 1 hour and 15 minutes which earned her a place in the prestigious Asia Book of Records and Indian Book of Records.

The Faculty of Occupational Therapy, MAHER on the other hand conducted a world record event on 10th January, 2023 during which 92 students recited slogans about empowerment of persons who are differently abled (Divyangjan) for 6 hours continuously in several languages including Tamil, English, Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, Arabic , French, Chinese , Italian and Korean and marked its entry into the Lincoln Book of World Records

The Faculty of Yoga Sciences and Therapy, MAHER also has several world records to its credit. They had set a new record in the Noble World Records on the eve of India’s 75th Independence Day, in which 3157 participants of various ages from around the world performed Anuloma Viloma Pranayama for seven minutes and fifty seven seconds to raise awareness of the health benefits of pranayama, particularly in the context of the COVID – 19 global pandemic.They also set another world record and earned its place in the Noble World Records in which 1735 participants of various age groups from all over the World participated and performed 108 Surya Namaskars (Sun Salutations) for creating the awareness on benefits of total health and well-being. They created yet another world record in the Noble World Records by organizing a virtual mega event jointly with Narchinthanai vatam (NCV) & Rotary Club of Chennai Harmony on the occasion of 500th day NCV free online yoga session where 8056 participants of various age groups across the world participated and performed Bhujangasana for 50 seconds for creating awareness on health and well-being in the context of the COVID-19 situation.

Partner in Pilot study of Advanced LMS platform:

Canvas, a world renowned LMS, conducted a pilot program to study the implementation, training and usage of LMS at select universities with demonstrable potential to evolve best practices, standardised templates, blueprints adapted for the unique Indian higher education system.  Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research (MAHER) was selected as one of the five partners for implementing a competency based undergraduate program for the MBBS and BDS programs. The pilot program at Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research is unique as it aims to evaluate the implementation of Canvas LMS for competency-based education in medicine and dentistry, which are critical fields requiring high levels of skill and knowledge.
