MAHER Hosts MILES 2025: Fostering Innovation on World IP Day

On the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day, the IPR Cell of MAHER (Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research), in collaboration with the Innovation and Incubation Centre, successfully organized the MAHER Ideathon for Landmark Exploration in Science (MILES) 2025 on April 26, 2025. This initiative was aimed at fostering innovation, promoting creative thinking, and encouraging the protection of intellectual property among students and faculty across the institution.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from various constituent colleges under MAHER, with a total of 52 innovative ideas submitted for consideration. After a thorough and competitive internal screening process, 12 standout innovations were shortlisted for the final round of evaluation.

Ms. Aswini Priyanka Rajendran, Founder and CEO of ASSR Emphorium and Vice President (Operations) at UNIZH, was invited as the guest evaluator for the final presentations. With her industry expertise and entrepreneurial insight, she assessed the pitches based on originality, feasibility, impact, and presentation quality.

Among the finalists, Dr. Sakthivel M from Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute (MMCHRI) was declared the winner of MILES 2025. Dr. Anshita M Menon from Meenakshi Ammal Dental College and Hospital (MADCH) was named the first runner-up. The second runner-up position was awarded to Ms. Priyadharshini N and Dr. Vijayalakshmi P from the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences (FAHS), MAHER.

The winners were felicitated with mementos to recognize their outstanding contributions, while participation certificates were presented to all finalists who played a vital role in making the event a success.

The event highlighted the vital role of innovation and intellectual property in shaping sustainable solutions and driving progress across scientific and healthcare domains.
