The NSS Unit of Meenakshi College of Nursing (MCON) actively participated in “Nalam Kaakkum Stalin”, a Special Screening Camp held on 8th August 2025 at the Primary Health Centre, Padappai. The camp, running from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, aimed to provide comprehensive healthcare at people’s doorsteps, with a special focus on underserved rural communities lacking advanced medical facilities.
A total of 21 nursing students from MCON contributed to the initiative, which prioritized individuals with diabetes, hypertension, mental health conditions, heart ailments, pregnant and lactating mothers, children with special needs, differently-abled persons, tribal populations, and socio-economically disadvantaged groups.
The camp offered a wide range of diagnostic and preventive services, including blood tests, ECG, echocardiogram, X-ray, ultrasound scans, and screening for tuberculosis, leprosy, cervical cancer, and breast cancer. It was inaugurated by the MLA and Councillor of Kanchipuram District.
MCON students actively assisted in registration, blood pressure and ECG measurements, height and weight assessment, blood sample collection, and on-site blood testing. Their enthusiastic participation not only supported the smooth execution of the event but also reflected their dedication to community health and service.
The camp’s success marked a significant step toward improving the well-being of rural populations, aligning with the broader mission of accessible healthcare for all.
