On the occasion of World Photography Day, the Meenakshi College of Arts and Science, under the aegis of Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education & Research (MAHER), organized an insightful guest lecture on “Influence of Photography in Modern Days” on 19th August 2025.
The event was graced by Mr. R. Satish Babu, a renowned photojournalist from Agence France-Presse (AFP), who delivered an engaging session on the evolving role of photography in shaping modern narratives, media, and society. His perspectives offered students a deeper understanding of how photography goes beyond aesthetics to influence thought, culture, and communication in the digital age.
As part of the celebration, a photography contest was also held for students on the themes “Hands that Build” and “Power of Silence.” Participants showcased their creativity by capturing striking moments that highlighted originality, perspective, and storytelling. The best entries were recognized and awarded, adding vibrancy and inspiration to the occasion.
The event not only celebrated the art of photography but also encouraged students to explore its potential as a powerful medium of expression and social impact.
