The NSS Unit of Meenakshi College of Nursing (MCON), Chennai, celebrated the 79th Independence Day on 15th August 2025 with great enthusiasm and national pride. The program commenced at 7:30 AM with an invocation rendered by the B.Sc. (Nursing) students, creating a solemn and inspiring start to the occasion.
The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Asinath, B.Sc. (N) I Year, after which the National Flag was hoisted by Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj, Principal, MCON. In her keynote address, Dr. Fabiola highlighted the spirit of independence and urged students to uphold the values of freedom, unity, and responsibility in their lives.
The entire gathering, including faculty and students, then took the Independence Day pledge, reaffirming their dedication to the nation. An Independence Day speech was delivered by Ms. Poornima, B.Sc. (N) I Year, reflecting the significance of the day in shaping the country’s future.
Students enthusiastically participated in the celebrations through various performances that showcased their patriotic fervor and creativity. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Nancy, B.Sc. (N) I Year, followed by the National Anthem at 8:45 AM.
The event fostered a deep sense of patriotism, unity, and commitment to nation-building among the students and faculty, making the celebration truly memorable.
