The Alumni Coordination Cell of Meenakshi College of Nursing (MCON), MAHER organized an Alumni Interaction on 22nd August 2025 with the theme “Breaking the Myths of Nursing Profession.” The program, held from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, witnessed the participation of 67 students, 4 faculty members, the Principal, and the Vice Principal.
The session aimed to promote an accurate understanding of nursing as a highly skilled, science-based, and leadership-driven profession, breaking away from the misconceptions of it being a limited or subordinate role.
The event commenced with an invocation song by MCON students, followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Ms. Gloria Bakkiavathi, B.Sc (N) III Year. The keynote address was given by Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj, Principal, MCON. Mrs. Aarthi P, Nursing Tutor and Alumni Coordinator, introduced the day’s speaker.
The highlight of the program was the talk by Mrs. Priyadharshini, Assistant Professor, who addressed the topic “Breaking the Myths about Nursing Profession.” She clearly explained the common myths, realities, and facts associated with nursing, along with insights into gender diversity, challenges, and the promising future of the profession.
The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ms. Amritha S. R., B.Sc (N) III Year, expressing gratitude towards the faculty, the speaker, and the students for making the event a success. The event ended with the National Anthem, marking a dignified close to the session.
