Meenakshi College of Nursing Joins EFI for Beach Clean-Up Drive at Besant Nagar

In a spirited initiative to protect our environment, Meenakshi College of Nursing (MCON), in collaboration with the Environmental Foundation of India (EFI), actively participated in a Beach Clean-Up Drive on 21st September 2025 at Besant Nagar Beach, Chennai. The drive commenced at 7:00 a.m. and concluded at 9:00 a.m.

A total of 46 IV-year B.Sc. Nursing students enthusiastically took part in the campaign, collecting and segregating various forms of waste including food wrappers, corn husks, diapers, broken glass bottles, and other litter. Their dedicated efforts resulted in the collection of 10 full bags of garbage, which were later handed over to the local municipality for safe management and disposal.

The clean-up drive not only showcased the students’ social responsibility but also reinforced the collective duty to safeguard our oceans and beaches. With their motto “Clean Up, Don’t Trash Up”, the participants sent out a powerful message of sustainability and community responsibility.

This impactful event served as a reminder that every small step counts towards creating a cleaner, healthier, and safer environment for future generations.
