Meenakshi College of Allied Health Sciences Observes World Sight Day with a Webinar on Myopia Awareness

On the occasion of World Sight Day, the Department of Optometry, Meenakshi College of Allied Health Sciences (MCAHS), organized an insightful webinar on 9th October 2025 on the topic “Prevalence and Awareness of Myopia.” The session was conducted in alignment with the global theme “Love Your Eyes,” emphasizing the importance of eye health and preventive vision care.

The resource person, Ms. Bhavani Priya S., Assistant Professor, Takshashila University, delivered an engaging presentation highlighting the rising prevalence of myopia, its causative factors, and preventive measures. She stressed the need for early detection, regular eye check-ups, and healthy lifestyle practices, including responsible screen time, to maintain good visual health.

The webinar aimed to enhance awareness among students about eye health, empowering them to take proactive steps toward preventing visual impairment. Informative videos were played to reinforce key messages and encourage behavioral changes in daily life.

A total of 125 students participated enthusiastically, making the session both educative and impactful. The event effectively conveyed the message that everyone has a role to play in protecting their vision, echoing the global commitment to better eye health for all.
