Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing Observes International Day of the Girl Child 2025

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing (AMCON), MAHER, observed the International Day of the Girl Child 2025 on 14th October 2025 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The event was organized based on the global theme, “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis.”

The programme began with the rendition of Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by a warm welcome address by Ms. B. Sujitha, B.Sc. (N) VI Semester. Prof. Dr. Victor Devasirvadam, Principal, AMCON, delivered the Inaugural Address, emphasizing the importance of empowering young women to take on leadership roles and drive positive social change.

The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. B. Durga, Vice Principal, Meenakshi College of Allied Health Sciences (MCAHS), delivered an insightful PowerPoint presentation on the significance of the day. She urged everyone to support and amplify the voices of girls and highlighted the need for girl-led initiatives and leadership opportunities. Her address underscored the importance of advocating for policies that safeguard girls’ rights, establishing programs focused on health, education, and mental well-being, and supporting adolescent mothers, particularly during times of crisis.

In alignment with the day’s theme, Tamil and English Elocution Competitions were conducted to encourage students to express their views and perspectives. The winners were awarded certificates and prizes by the Chief Guest, who appreciated the students’ enthusiasm and the organizers’ efforts in conducting a meaningful event.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. V. Srimathi, B.Sc. (N) VI Semester, followed by the National Anthem. The observance successfully highlighted the need to recognize, celebrate, and empower girls as leaders and changemakers of tomorrow. A total of 100 students benefited from the programme.
