Empowering Future Leaders – International Student Day 2025 Celebrated at AMCON

The Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing (AMCON), a constituent institution of MAHER, proudly celebrated International Student Day 2025 on 17 July 2025 in the B.Sc. Nursing First-Year classroom. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 100 students and 8 faculty members, making it a vibrant and memorable occasion.

The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Ms. Cathrin Lucas Selvakumar, a first-year B.Sc. Nursing student, who gracefully set the tone for the celebration. This was followed by an inspiring inaugural address delivered by Dr. Victor Devasirvadham, Principal, AMCON, who encouraged students to maximize every learning opportunity and to grow as capable future professionals.

The core message of the day was presented by Dr. Prakash Palanivelu, Associate Professor, AMCON, who unfolded the theme “Empowering Students to be Agents of Innovation and Change.” His session highlighted the importance of creativity, leadership, resilience, and continuous involvement in academic and extracurricular pursuits to shape the future of nursing and healthcare. His words motivated students to step forward as confident contributors to societal growth.

A major highlight of the event was a stimulating and insightful debate on the topic “Academics in the Present Competitive World is Stressful vs. Fruitful.” The debate featured passionate presentations by Aldriya Thampy, Hana Fadiya, Muhammad Yasir, and Muhammed Saffan, while Christina Lucas efficiently moderated the session. With well-articulated perspectives from both sides, the debate ignited thoughtful conversations on student life, academic expectations, and emotional well-being in today’s competitive environment.

The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Iyyapan, a first-year B.Sc. Nursing student, who expressed gratitude to all speakers, participants, organizers, and faculty members for their dedicated efforts and meaningful contributions.

Overall, the International Student Day 2025 celebration at AMCON proved to be engaging, inspirational, and enriching. It encouraged students to think critically, express themselves confidently, and embrace innovation, leadership, and positive change in their academic journey and beyond.
