Meenakshi College of Yoga Science and Therapy, MAHER, organised a vibrant Pongal Celebration on 12th January 2026 at the Meditation Hall, MCYST, as part of its continued efforts to promote cultural awareness and meaningful student participation in co-curricular activities. The celebration brought together students and faculty members in a festive atmosphere that reflected the spirit of tradition, unity, and gratitude associated with the harvest festival.
The programme featured enthusiastic participation in traditional competitions such as Kolam and Musical Chair, which fostered creativity, teamwork, and cultural expression among the students. A traditional Pongal Puja was performed, underscoring the spiritual and cultural significance of the festival and reinforcing respect for nature and its bounties.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. V. Subbulakshmi, Principal, MCYST, highlighted the importance of Pongal in preserving cultural heritage, nurturing gratitude, and strengthening a sense of unity within the academic community. She emphasized the relevance of traditional values in shaping holistic education and well-rounded individuals. The programme concluded with the distribution of prizes to the competition winners by the Principal, encouraging student involvement and appreciation of cultural traditions.
