Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute Hosts Guest Lecture on Adrenergic Pharmacology

The Department of Pharmacology at Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute (MMCHRI) organized an engaging Guest Lecture titled “Sympathetic Sparks – Principles and Clinical Applications of Adrenergic Drugs” on 12th February 2026. The academic session was designed to enhance students’ understanding of adrenergic pharmacology and its clinical relevance in modern medical practice.

The programme commenced at 1:00 pm with an inaugural ceremony that included a warm welcome address by Dr. Vidhyalakshmi S., Assistant Professor of Pharmacology. The guest speaker was formally introduced by Dr. Parimala, Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacology, followed by a felicitation by the Dean, Dr. K. V. Rajasekhar, who emphasized the importance of strengthening pharmacological foundations for effective clinical decision-making.

The core scientific session began at 1:20 pm and was delivered by Dr. J. Thirunavukkarasu, Professor and Head of Pharmacology at Saveetha Medical College. His lecture provided a comprehensive overview of the principles underlying adrenergic drug action, receptor pharmacodynamics, therapeutic applications, adverse effects, and current clinical perspectives. The session effectively bridged basic pharmacological concepts with real-world clinical scenarios, fostering deeper insight among participants.
