Meenakshi College of Pharmacy Organizes Educational Orientation Programme on Menstrual Hygiene

The Internal Complaints Committee of Meenakshi College of Pharmacy organized an Educational Orientation Programme on Menstrual Hygiene on 4th February 2026, in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission (TNSRLM). The programme was designed to educate students on menstrual health, promote hygienic practices, and foster open, stigma-free discussions surrounding menstruation.

The event commenced with an inaugural session and a warm welcome address by Dr. D. Chamundeeswari, Principal, who highlighted the critical role of menstrual hygiene education in safeguarding physical health, dignity, and overall well-being among young women. This was followed by the felicitation of the resource person in recognition of her contribution to this important cause.

The session was led by Ms. Guna, a representative of the Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission, who delivered an informative lecture on menstrual health awareness and hygienic menstrual practices. She addressed common myths and misconceptions, emphasized the importance of proper sanitation, and encouraged students to approach menstruation with confidence and informed understanding.

A key highlight of the programme was the oath-taking ceremony on menstrual hygiene. Administered by the resource person, the oath encouraged students to adopt healthy practices, maintain personal hygiene, and actively spread awareness within their peer groups and communities.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the dedicated efforts of the organizing committee, the valuable guidance of the resource person, and the enthusiastic participation of students. The orientation session proved to be highly impactful, empowering students with knowledge, confidence, and a strong sense of social responsibility toward menstrual health awareness.
