Meenakshi College of Physiotherapy Enhances Clinical Skills through Hydrotherapy Training Program

Meenakshi College of Physiotherapy, MAHER, organized a one-day Hydrotherapy Training Program for students on 16th March 2026 at Smashbounce Badminton Academy and Indoor Sports Arena, Valasaravakkam.

The programme was conducted to provide practical exposure to hydrotherapy and its therapeutic applications in physiotherapy practice. A total of 89 students actively participated, gaining valuable insights into the role of water-based exercises in rehabilitation, particularly in improving joint mobility, muscle strength, balance, and overall functional performance.

To ensure effective learning and supervision, students were divided into batches. The session began with an introduction to hydrotherapy, covering its principles, indications, and clinical benefits, followed by guided practical exposure in a pool setting.

During the hands-on session, students observed and experienced various hydrotherapy techniques and exercises. The fundamental properties of water—buoyancy, resistance, and hydrostatic pressure—were explained in relation to their clinical significance, helping students understand their application in patient care.

The programme concluded with an interactive feedback session, allowing students to reflect on their learning and clarify doubts regarding hydrotherapy practices.

This field engagement offered students valuable hands-on clinical exposure and the opportunity to understand therapeutic interventions in a real-time setting. It significantly enhanced their practical knowledge, clinical reasoning, and awareness of rehabilitation techniques in physiotherapy practice.
