Meenakshi College of Nursing observed World Intellectual Property Day on 27th April 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, embracing the global theme “IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate.”
The programme commenced with an invocation song, followed by a welcome address delivered by Ms. Noufiya, II Year B.Sc. (N) student. The keynote address was given by Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj, who emphasized the growing importance of intellectual property in fostering innovation and creativity.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Vallinachiyar, Dean – Publications, MAHER, delivered an insightful session elaborating on the theme, highlighting the role of intellectual property rights in the field of sports. The session was made interactive with a short quiz based on the topic, in which students participated enthusiastically.
As part of the celebration, winners of the short film contest were awarded prizes and certificates, recognizing their creativity and understanding of IPR concepts. A total of 129 students actively participated in the programme.This academic engagement enhanced students’ awareness of intellectual property rights, innovation in sports, and creative expression, while strengthening their understanding of the relevance of IPR in diverse fields.
