MMCHRI Central Library Observes World Book and Copyright Day with Focus on Research Visibility and Ethics

The Central Library of Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute (MMCHRI) observed World Book and Copyright Day on 29th April 2026 with an informative session highlighting the importance of responsible research dissemination and intellectual property awareness.

As part of the programme, participants were introduced to ResearchGate, a widely used academic networking platform that enables researchers and scientists to share their work, collaborate with peers, and build professional connections. The session explained how researchers can create profiles, upload publications, share datasets, engage in scholarly discussions, and track the impact of their work through metrics such as views, downloads, and citations.

The programme also emphasized the appropriate use of such platforms, highlighting that while ResearchGate serves as a valuable tool for knowledge sharing and collaboration, it does not replace the importance of publishing in peer-reviewed journals to ensure research quality and credibility.

The session provided valuable insights into balancing digital academic networking with established publishing standards, promoting ethical research practices and responsible dissemination of scientific knowledge.

This academic engagement enhanced participants’ understanding of research visibility, scholarly communication, and ethical publishing practices, strengthening their awareness of intellectual property and academic integrity.
