The Department of Anaesthesiology at Meenakshi Medical College Hospital & Research Institute (MMCHRI) observed World Anaesthesia Day on 16 October 2026, recognising the vital role of anaesthesiologists in delivering safe, compassionate and effective patient care.
With the theme “Anaesthesiology Along the Patient Pathway – From First Contact to a Healthier Tomorrow,” the observance highlighted the contribution of anaesthesiologists at every stage of the patient journey, from pre-operative evaluation and intra-operative safety to critical care, recovery and post-discharge support.
The initiative reinforced the importance of patient safety, continuous learning, effective healthcare systems and compassionate clinical practice in improving patient outcomes and promoting a healthier future.
