As part of its ongoing World Environment Day 2025 celebrations, Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing (AMCON) organized an impactful event at the Kanchipuram Bus Stand. The event embraced the global theme, “On a Finite Earth, Can We Afford Ever Growing Consumption?” and focused on creating public awareness about the harmful effects of plastic pollution and the importance of sustainable living.
The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and members of the local police force. It began at the Time Keeper booth and concluded at the Police Booth within the bus stand. Students actively voiced slogans addressing the dangers of plastic usage and its consequences for the environment and all living beings. As part of the outreach, AMCON faculty and students distributed cloth bags and informative pamphlets to the public, highlighting simple yet effective ways to avoid, reduce, and recycle plastic and encouraging environmentally conscious behavior.
In addition to the public engagement activity, AMCON organized on-campus competitions to further involve students in environmental advocacy. A large number of students took part in a poster presentation and article writing competition on the theme “Combating Plastic Pollution.” The creative submissions reflected a deep understanding of environmental issues and the urgency to act. Prizes were awarded to the top three participants in both categories, recognizing their efforts and contributions to spreading environmental awareness.
