AMCON Observes International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2025

In alignment with the global theme “Break the Cycle. #StopOrganizedCrime,” Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing (AMCON) observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26th June 2025 with a series of impactful activities designed to raise awareness and inspire change.

The event commenced with a mass awareness rally organized by B.Sc. (Nursing) students and faculty members, who marched in and around the campus carrying eye-catching placards, posters, and banners. Their enthusiastic participation and powerful slogans sent a strong message about the dangers of drug abuse and the urgent need to combat illicit trafficking.

One of the key highlights of the program was a thought-provoking skit performed by students, titled “The Journey from Addiction to Recovery.” The performance offered a compelling depiction of the real-life struggles faced by individuals battling substance abuse and the strength needed to reclaim their lives.

This was followed by a pledge ceremony, where all attendees took a solemn oath to lead a drug-free life and to encourage others to do the same, reinforcing their personal and collective commitment to the cause.

With the participation of 98 students and 17 faculty members, the event proved to be both informative and inspiring. It served as a powerful reminder that combating drug addiction requires education, empathy, unity, and sustained efforts at all levels.

The program concluded with the National Anthem, marking the end of a meaningful initiative that echoed the institution’s continued dedication to promoting a healthy, safe, and drug-free society.
