In alignment with the national celebration of the International Day of Yoga, Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing (AMCON) participated in an online lecture organized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) on 19th June 2025. The event took place in the Multipurpose Hall of AMCON and highlighted this year’s theme, “Yoga for Universal Harmony and Peace.”
The session aimed to promote awareness about the holistic benefits of yoga for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Prof. (Dr.) K. Satya Lakshmi, Director of the National Institute of Naturopathy, Pune, delivered an insightful lecture emphasizing the physiological, psychological, and biochemical impacts of yoga. She elaborated on how yoga serves as a powerful lifestyle practice that fosters inner peace, physical strength, and emotional balance.
Following the lecture, an interactive Q&A session allowed participants to engage with the expert, deepening their understanding of yoga’s scientific and therapeutic aspects.
A total of 117 participants, including 17 faculty members and 100 Semester-IV students from AMCON, attended the session and found it highly beneficial. The program successfully reinforced the importance of integrating yoga into daily life for enhanced overall health and harmony.
