AMCON Observes National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) with Patriotic Fervour

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, under the directives of the University Grants Commission (UGC), facilitated the observance of National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) on 31 October 2025 at 10:00 AM in the Multipurpose Hall of Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing (AMCON).

The program commenced with the dignified rendition of Tamizh Thaai Vaazhthu, creating an atmosphere of respect and national pride, followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Ms. Srimathi, B.Sc. (N) III Year.

Dr. S. Victor Devasirvadam, Ph.D. (N), D.Sc. (N), Principal, AMCON, formally inaugurated the observance with a thoughtful address reflecting on the significance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. He emphasized the vital role of unity in nurturing national integrity, cultural harmony, and collective development, drawing attention to the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the “Iron Man of India.”

A compelling and intellectually stimulating debate on “National Identity vs. Cultural Diversity” was conducted by Ex-Army Officer Mr. B. Anandhan, who also delivered an insightful lecture. Drawing from his rich service experience, he highlighted the duties of every citizen in safeguarding the nation’s unity and promoting social cohesion.

As part of the observance, a Unity Pledge was administered to all teaching faculty, non-teaching staff, and students, reaffirming their dedication to uphold the ideals of harmony, national integration, and collective responsibility.

To further reinforce the spirit of togetherness, a Unity Run was organized at Enathur, Kanchipuram, coordinated by Mr. Dinesh Kumar, M.Sc. (N), Assistant Professor. Participants carried vibrant placards, posters, and banners displaying strong and inspiring messages advocating unity, patriotism, and communal harmony.

The program concluded with an earnest vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Gowdham, B.Sc. (N) III Year, followed by the National Anthem.

The observance witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 200 students and members of the public, who benefited greatly from this awareness-enriching and nationally significant event, fostering a deeper appreciation for unity and national pride.
