The Anti-Ragging Committee of Meenakshi Medical College Hospital & Research Institute (MMCHRI) organized Anti-Ragging Week Celebrations from 12th to 14th August 2025 with the objective of creating awareness about the ill-effects of ragging and strengthening the commitment towards a ragging-free campus.
The programme commenced with Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by a welcome address and inaugural speech. A series of guest lectures enriched the sessions, including “Youth Against Ragging” delivered by Dr. Shyam Sundar K, Saveetha Medical College, and “Psychology of Ragging” by Dr. Ardhanaari, MMCHRI, which provided students with valuable insights into the psychological and social dimensions of ragging.
Active student participation marked the celebrations, with debates on anti-ragging themes showcasing their awareness and commitment to fostering a safe and respectful academic environment. Winners of the competitions were honored with prizes.
On 13th August 2025, an Anti-Ragging Awareness Rally was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. K.V. Rajasekhar, Dean, MMCHRI, and carried out by Phase-III MBBS students at Kanchipuram. Additionally, Phase-I MBBS students (Batch 2024–2025) participated in awareness speeches and took the Anti-Ragging Pledge, reaffirming their responsibility to uphold discipline and mutual respect.
The celebrations concluded with a vote of thanks and the singing of the National Anthem. The three-day observance successfully spread awareness on the harmful consequences of ragging, emphasized the importance of discipline and respect, and highlighted the collective responsibility of students and faculty in ensuring a safe and inclusive campus culture.
