Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing Celebrates International Yoga Day 2026 with Yoga Sangam

Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing, MAHER, enthusiastically participated in Yoga Sangam on 19th June 2026 as part of the International Yoga Day 2026 celebrations held at the MMCHRI Athletic Ground. The programme, organized under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” aimed to promote the importance of yoga in enhancing physical fitness, mental well-being, and a balanced lifestyle.

The programme commenced with Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by the Welcome Address delivered by Dr. V. Eswari, Vice Principal, MMCHRI. Prof. Dr. K. V. Rajasekhar, Dean, MMCHRI, addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of this year’s International Yoga Day theme, emphasizing the role of yoga in promoting healthy ageing and overall well-being.

Around 200 B.Sc. Nursing students actively participated in the Yoga Sangam. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. V. Subbulakshmi, Principal, Meenakshi College of Yoga Science and Therapy (MCYST), participants performed various yoga asanas, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques. The session also highlighted the health benefits of regular yoga practice, including improved flexibility, stress management, enhanced concentration, and overall fitness. Faculty members, staff, and students enthusiastically took part in the programme, making it a vibrant celebration of holistic health and wellness.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Saravanan, Department of Anatomy, MMCHRI, marking the successful completion of the event.

The celebration reinforced the timeless value of yoga as a pathway to healthier living, inspiring participants to embrace it as an integral part of their daily lives.
