Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing (AMCON) organised a comprehensive seven-day Induction Programme 2026 for the 19th Batch of B.Sc. Nursing students from 31 August to 8 September 2026 at the Multipurpose Hall, AMCON. The programme was designed to familiarise freshers with the academic environment, institutional facilities, professional expectations, student support systems, and opportunities available throughout their nursing education.
The inaugural day commenced with Tamizhthaai Vaazhthu, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Kirupa, Principal, AMCON. Students were introduced to the history and development of the college, its infrastructure, hostel rules and regulations, the Mentor–Mentee System, National Service Scheme (NSS), Students’ Grievances Committee, Alumni Association, and observational visits planned during the B.Sc. Nursing programme.
The second day provided students with a comprehensive orientation to the college and hospital. In groups, the students visited various facilities, including the Foundation Lab, Advanced Skill Lab, Community Health Nursing Lab, Nutrition Lab, Computer Lab, OBG Lab, administrative and college blocks, as well as Meenakshi Medical College Hospital & Research Institute (MMCH&RI). Sessions on scholarships and the Indian Nursing Council B.Sc. Nursing syllabus and credit-based grading system further helped students understand their academic pathway.
The third day focused on Human Values, Code of Conduct, Ethics, Anti-Ragging, and Drug Abuse Awareness. Students were sensitised to professional conduct, ethical responsibilities, the anti-ragging mechanism, and the importance of awareness, early intervention, and support in preventing substance abuse.
A Health Check-up and Mentor–Mentee Orientation was conducted on the fourth day. Students underwent routine health assessments, including pulse, respiration, and blood pressure monitoring, at MMCH&RI. The first dose of the Hepatitis vaccine was also administered to the first-year students. A yoga session introduced students to the benefits of regular practice for flexibility, concentration, balance, and stress management.
The fifth day addressed the Internal Complaints Committee, Students’ Grievances Committee, and Cyber Security Awareness. Students were familiarised with institutional mechanisms for addressing concerns, laws and procedures related to complaints, and the importance of responsible digital behaviour and online safety.
The sixth day featured a lively Talent Corner and Sports and Games, with students participating in singing, dancing, carrom, chess, and speaking activities. Sessions on Emerging Career Opportunities and Challenges for Nurses in India, Scope of Nursing, and Stress Management further broadened students’ perspectives on their future profession and personal well-being.
The programme concluded on 8 September 2026 with an educational and cultural visit to Kamakshi Amman Temple, Kanchipuram, where the students explored the temple’s history, traditions, and cultural significance. The valedictory programme included a review of the induction activities, student feedback, and prize distribution by Dr. Kirupa, Principal, AMCON. The programme was organised by Ms. Uma, M.Sc. (N), Associate Professor, AMCON, and concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mrs. Johnsi Inbakumari, Assistant Professor, followed by the National Anthem.
The induction programme provided the freshers with a meaningful introduction to academic life, professional nursing responsibilities, institutional support systems, and the values essential for a successful healthcare career.
