FHS Students Engage with Nottingham University Experts in Guest Lecture on Real-World Applications of Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science and Applications organized an inspiring Guest Lecture on 20th June 2025 titled “Computer Science: From Classrooms to Everyday Life”, aimed at bridging academic learning with real-world applications. The session was conducted for Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) students from various departments.

The guest speaker, Dr. Neelima Sailaja, Assistant Professor at Nottingham University, UK—a globally reputed institution ranked among the Top 100 in QS World Rankings—shared deep insights into how computer science innovations are seamlessly integrated into daily life through smartphones, smart homes, healthcare, banking, social media, and entertainment. She also shared her research on the application of artificial intelligence in agriculture, particularly in helping farmers manage threats from wild animals and birds.

Dr. Parul Chauhan, Recruitment Advisor from Nottingham University, also addressed the participants, offering valuable guidance on higher education and research opportunities in cutting-edge fields like AI, Data Science, and Cybersecurity.

The program saw enthusiastic participation from around 190 students and faculty across departments. The event was successfully coordinated by Mrs. Sridevi and Mrs. Josephine Mary from the Department of Computer Science and Applications.

The session proved to be highly engaging and informative, offering students a global perspective on the transformative power of computer science.
