HIV Testing and Counselling Training (HTCT) Certification Program

The Research Department organized a two-day online “HIV Testing and Counselling Training (HTCT) Certification Program” from March 21st – 22nd, 2025, aimed at professionals working in hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, and blood banks seeking NABL or NABH accreditation. This program was designed to enhance participants’ knowledge in line with NABL-112A/B documents and National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) guidelines.

Led by experts Dr. Pachamuthu Balakrishnan, Dr. VHT Swamy, Dr. Srirama, Ms. Chaithra Nair, and Dr. Sree T Sucharitha, the training covered crucial topics such as the “5Cs” (Consent, Confidentiality, Counselling, Correct test results, and Connections), pre-test and post-test counselling, HIV testing guidelines, infection control, and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). Ethical and legal issues surrounding HIV testing in India were also addressed.

The program saw active participation from 63 healthcare professionals across the country. Each session included interactive discussions, allowing participants to engage directly with the resource persons. The training proved to be a valuable learning experience, with participants expressing interest in similar future sessions.
