International Nurses Day 2025 – MCON

The Student Nurses Association (SNA) unit of Meenakshi College of Nursing (MCON) commemorated International Nurses Day on May 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the Conference Hall, with a total of 37 participants including students and faculty. The event centered on the impactful global theme: “Nurses, Our Future – Caring for Nurses Strengthens Economies.”

Organized by Dr. Thephilah Cathrine R, the program commenced with an invocation song by the MCON Choir, followed by a warm welcome address from Ms. Thamizh V, IV Year B.Sc (N). A silent tribute was then offered to honor Florence Nightingale’s legacy and the dedication of nurses worldwide.

Dr. Fabiola M Dhanaraj, Principal of MCON, unfolded the theme, emphasizing the essential role of nurses in building strong health systems and the broader economic impact of investing in their well-being and professional growth.

A creative Hand Wash Dance by Ms. Madhumitha and team raised awareness about hygiene practices among students. This was followed by a debate on “Economic Status of Nurses – Risen or Not,” judged by Dr. Fabiola M Dhanaraj. After a lively exchange of perspectives, the conclusion was drawn that the economic status of nurses has indeed improved.

A customized Nurses Day tribute video, showcasing dynamic visuals and heartfelt messages in recognition of the unwavering dedication of nursing professionals, was presented. Additionally, a Thumb Impression activity was organized, providing an opportunity for students and faculty to symbolically honor the contributions of nurses by placing their thumb impressions on a tree-shaped poster, signifying growth, unity, and collective appreciation.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Vishak Raj J R, followed by a prize distribution ceremony recognizing student and faculty excellence. The celebration ended with the National Anthem by the MCON Choir at 4:00 PM.

This meaningful event served not only as a tribute to nurses but also as a reminder of their pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare.
