Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research (MAHER), in collaboration with Dharmamurthy Rao Bahadur Calavala Cunnan Chetty’s Hindu College (DRBCCC Hindu College), organized a Peer Team Symposium titled “Forensic Insights” on 28th October 2025 at DRBCCC Hindu College for B.Sc. Criminology students.
The symposium aimed to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of forensic science and its multidisciplinary applications in criminology and law enforcement. It served as a valuable platform to bridge academic learning with practical forensic knowledge, fostering analytical thinking and investigative skills among students.
The convenor for MAHER was Dr. Shakthi Akash Vuputtur, Associate Professor of Prosthodontics, Meenakshi Ammal Dental College. The event featured a series of insightful lectures by eminent speakers from MAHER. Dr. Preethi M., Associate Dean – Research, delivered a thought-provoking session on “Forensic Perspectives of Child Maltreatment,” emphasizing medico-legal approaches to child protection and abuse prevention. Dr. J. Logeswari, Professor, Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology, spoke on “Basics of Forensic Odontology,” outlining the crucial role of dental evidence in human identification. Dr. Manoj Prabhakar, Deputy Registrar, MAHER, addressed the audience on “Mass Disaster Management,” highlighting effective strategies for coordination, identification, and recovery during large-scale emergencies. Dr. R. Jeyaseelan, Associate Professor, Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology, discussed “Reports and Documentation,” focusing on the importance of precision, ethics, and accountability in forensic reporting.
The sessions were followed by an engaging interactive panel discussion, where students enthusiastically participated and gained valuable insights into real-world forensic applications. The symposium proved to be highly enriching, offering academic depth and practical exposure to aspiring criminologists. The participants appreciated the initiative, which successfully promoted interdisciplinary learning and strengthened their understanding of forensic sciences within the academic framework.
