The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research (MAHER) organised a One-Day Training Session for NSS Programme Officers on 29 September 2026. The programme aimed to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and effective functioning of NSS Programme Officers across the constituent colleges of MAHER.
The training session was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor, and Registrar of MAHER, who also felicitated the distinguished guests and resource persons. The morning session was conducted by Dr. Samuel Chelliah, Regional Director of NSS, and Dr. Guna Nidhi, State NSS Cell Officer, who provided an overview of the National Service Scheme, its objectives, functioning, and role in fostering student development and community service.
The afternoon sessions were led by Ms. Sarah Karunakaran, ETI Coordinator of NSS, MSSW, who explained the regular activities of NSS and procedures for organising Special Camps. Ms. Sathya, MSSW, provided valuable insights into the NSS Programme Officer Awards and NSS Volunteer Awards and Rewards, including eligibility criteria and recognition of outstanding contributions.
Programme Officers from the constituent colleges of MAHER actively participated in the training and benefited from the practical guidance and expertise shared by the resource persons. The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates to all participating NSS Programme Officers.
