MCAHS Observes World AIDS Day 2025 with Awareness Program and Walkathon

Meenakshi College of Allied Health Sciences (MCAHS), MAHER, observed World AIDS Day on 1st December 2025 by organizing an impactful Awareness Program on the theme “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response.” The event aimed to educate AHS students on the importance of HIV/AIDS prevention, early diagnosis, and collective responsibility in combating stigma.

As part of the observance, a Walkathon was conducted to promote awareness on HIV/AIDS prevention and encourage the community to stand united in ensuring dignity, respect, and equal access to healthcare for all. All second-year students took a pledge to uphold the values of health, compassion, and social responsibility, reaffirming their commitment to spreading awareness, supporting individuals affected by HIV/AIDS, and promoting safe and healthy practices.

A special awareness lecture was delivered by the Vice Principal, Prof. Dr. B. Durga, who emphasized the significance of early diagnosis, prevention strategies, and the pivotal role of youth in building an informed, empathetic, and stigma-free society. She also highlighted global efforts toward ending the AIDS epidemic and inspired students to act as responsible health ambassadors.

The event concluded with thoughtful reflections on empathy, responsibility, and collective action, encouraging every student to uphold the principles of awareness, prevention, and equality in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
