MCAHS Organizes Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan with a Pledge and Awareness Programme

The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Meenakshi College of Allied Health Sciences (MCAHS) organized the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan – Pledge and Awareness Programme for first-year students on 21st January 2026, in alignment with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and fostering a strong commitment toward a drug-free lifestyle among young learners.

The programme began with a brief introduction highlighting the vision and national significance of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. This was followed by a pledge-taking session, during which students collectively pledged to abstain from drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and other addictive substances, reinforcing personal responsibility and social accountability.

An impactful awareness address was delivered by the Vice Principal, Prof. Dr. B. Durga, who elaborated on the physical, psychological, and social consequences of substance abuse. The session emphasized the importance of self-discipline, informed decision-making, and adoption of healthy lifestyle practices, especially among youth who play a crucial role in shaping a healthier society.

A total of 100 first-year students actively participated in the programme, making it both informative and meaningful, while strengthening their resolve to lead a healthy, responsible, and substance-free life in the years ahead.
