MCAS Hosts International Webinar on Practical Applications of Machine Learning

The Department of Computer Science and Applications, Meenakshi College of Arts and Science (MCAS), organized an International Webinar titled “Machine Learning in Practice: From Algorithms to Real-world Systems” on 7 January 2026 at the MAHER Auditorium. The programme provided an excellent platform for students and faculty to gain global perspectives on the practical implementation of machine learning technologies across real-world systems.

The webinar witnessed active participation from 177 students across both shifts and 10 faculty members of the Department of Computer Science and Applications. The event was conducted in the esteemed presence of Dr. P. Sagayaraj, Dean, MCAS, Principals of both shifts, Dr. V. Shanthi and Dr. N. Prabhavathi Devi, and Dr. R. Kowsalya, Dean, International Relations, who encouraged students to actively engage with emerging technologies and international academic interactions.

The programme commenced with a welcome address, followed by an insightful guest lecture delivered by Dr. Maharani Abubakar, Lecturer, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Malaysia. During her session held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., she shared her expertise on the transition of machine learning concepts from theoretical algorithms to scalable real-world applications. She highlighted key implementation challenges, industry use cases, and emerging trends, offering participants a comprehensive understanding of applied machine learning.

The session was highly interactive, with participants actively engaging in discussions and utilizing the Q&A segment to clarify technical concepts and explore practical challenges and opportunities in the field. The webinar concluded with positive feedback, significantly enhancing students’ awareness and understanding of machine learning applications in contemporary technological environments.
