To commemorate World Blood Donor Day 2026, Meenakshi College of Arts and Science (MCAS), MAHER, organized an Awareness Programme and Pledge-Taking Ceremony on 22nd June 2026 at 2.00 p.m. The programme aimed to promote voluntary blood donation and create awareness about its vital role in saving lives and strengthening healthcare services.
The programme featured Dr. Roselin V., MBBS, MD (Community Medicine), Associate Dean – Extension Activities and ISO Coordinator, MAHER, as the resource person. Delivering an insightful session on the theme “One Drop of Humanity: Give Blood, Save Lives,” she emphasized the life-saving importance of voluntary blood donation and encouraged students to view blood donation as a humanitarian responsibility.
During her address, Dr. Roselin highlighted the critical need for an adequate blood supply to support emergency care, surgical procedures, maternal health, accident victims, and patients with chronic illnesses. She explained the importance of regular voluntary blood donation, discussed different blood groups and their demand, and stressed the need for safe, voluntary, and non-remunerated blood donation to ensure timely medical care for those in need.
The session also underscored the significance of public awareness, community participation, and collaborative initiatives involving educational institutions, healthcare organizations, and government agencies in strengthening blood donation services. Participants actively engaged in the interactive session, gaining valuable knowledge about the impact of blood donation on public health.
A highlight of the programme was the Pledge-Taking Ceremony, during which students and faculty members reaffirmed their commitment to promoting voluntary blood donation and motivating others to become regular blood donors.
The programme reflected MCAS–MAHER’s commitment to creating social awareness and encouraging humanitarian values among students. It concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students, inspiring them to contribute towards building a healthier and more compassionate society.
