The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) team and Office of the Controller of Examinations (COE), MAHER, jointly organised a panel discussion titled “Mapping Educational Outcomes with NEP 2020: An OBE Perspective” on 26 September 2026 at the Computer Laboratory of Meenakshi College of Arts and Science (MCAS), MAHER. The session aimed to familiarise faculty members with the principles of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and its integration with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The discussion brought together Dr. P. Sagayaraj, Dean, MCAS; Dr. V. Shanthi, Principal, Shift I; Dr. N. Prabhavathy Devi, Principal, Shift II; Dr. P. Manodh, Deputy Controller of Examinations, MAHER; Mr. S. Ramesh, Director, E-Governance, MAHER; Dr. P. Dinesh, NEP Coordinator, MCAS; Dr. Tamizharasi, ERP Coordinator, Shift I; and Ms. Gayathari, ERP Coordinator, Shift II, MCAS.

Dr. P. Sagayaraj opened the session with an overview of educational reforms in India, highlighting the vision of NEP 2020 in promoting flexibility, inclusivity, multidisciplinary learning and skill development. Led by Mr. S. Ramesh, the panel discussion explored the alignment of educational objectives, teaching-learning strategies and assessment practices with clearly defined learning outcomes.

Dr. P. Manodh explained the transition from conventional, rote-learning approaches to competency-based education, emphasising the systematic formulation of Programme Outcomes (POs) and Course Outcomes (COs). He highlighted the importance of mapping course outcomes to programme outcomes, selecting appropriate assessment methods, developing transparent assessment rubrics and maintaining systematic academic documentation.

The discussion also emphasised continuous feedback and improvement, encouraging faculty members to review teaching strategies and assessment practices based on students’ learning outcomes. The systematic mapping of COs with POs was identified as a key next step in the implementation process.

A total of 45 faculty members participated in the session, engaging in discussions and receiving clarifications on the practical aspects of OBE implementation. The programme was coordinated by the MCAS core IQAC team comprising Mrs. Arivukodi and Prof. T. Mythili, along with Dr. P. Dinesh, NEP Coordinator, MCAS.
