Meenakshi College of Nursing (MCON) celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June 2025 with the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”—a message that emphasizes the interconnectedness of human and environmental well-being. The event was held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the MCON auditorium and witnessed active participation from faculty, staff, and students.
The program commenced with a soulful invocation by the college choir, setting a serene tone for the celebration. Ms. Tamizh V., B.Sc (N) IV Year, delivered the welcome address, warmly greeting the attendees. The event was coordinated by Mrs. E. Bhuvaneswari, Professor, MCON.
Ms. Suganya, Ph.D. Scholar in Yoga Therapy, MAHER, along with her team, provided a brief introduction to the significance of International Yoga Day and the benefits of incorporating yoga into daily life. This was followed by guided warm-up exercises and the performance of various sitting and standing yoga asanas, with their physical and mental health benefits explained throughout the session.
Participants engaged enthusiastically, practicing each posture under guidance while learning how yoga helps maintain harmony between the body and mind. Students also discussed the relevance of yoga in their everyday lives and pledged to make it a regular practice for improved focus, fitness, and inner peace.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Vishak Raj J. R., B.Sc (N) IV Year, followed by the National Anthem, bringing the session to a meaningful close.
