MCON Takes Initiative in Promoting TB Awareness through NTEP Program

Meenakshi College of Nursing successfully conducted an awareness program on the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) on 3rd June, 2025, at the KMCH Auditorium, in collaboration with Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital (KMCH), Chennai.

The event saw the active participation of 44 B.Sc Nursing students, 2 nursing faculty members from Meenakshi College of Nursing, along with 3 health inspectors and 1 medical officer from the TB wing of KMCH.The primary objective of the program was to raise awareness about the NI-KSHAY initiative, which emphasizes the importance of timely notification of tuberculosis cases by healthcare providers to the government.

Dr. Kandhimathi, Medical Officer, TB Wing, KMCH, delivered an insightful session detailing the causation, symptoms, and treatment options for Tuberculosis, while also highlighting the crucial role nursing students can play in spreading awareness and ensuring TB case notification.

In a meaningful culmination, all participants took a pledge to contribute actively towards the prevention and elimination of tuberculosis. The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Anitha J, Professor, Meenakshi College of Nursing.
