Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research (MAHER), Deemed-to-be University successfully conducted its 19th Annual Convocation Ceremony on 22 and 23 December 2025 at the campus of Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute, Enathur, Kanchipuram, marking a significant academic milestone in the institution’s journey.
The Convocation Ceremony was presided over by the Hon’ble Chancellor, Mrs. Jayanthi Radhakrishnan, and held in the august presence of eminent dignitaries including Chief Patron Mrs. Gomathi Radhakrishnan, Pro-Chancellor Mr. Akash Prabhakar, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. C. Sridhar, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. C. Krithika, and Registrar Prof. Dr. Sureka Varalakshmi, along with members of the Governing Body, academic leaders, faculty members, and distinguished guests.
In her Welcome Address, the Chancellor reflected on MAHER’s evolution since its inception in 2004, highlighting its steady progress in academics, research, innovation, outreach activities, and infrastructure development. She fondly recalled the vision of the Founder Chancellor, Thiru A. N. Radhakrishnan, and reaffirmed the institution’s steadfast commitment to academic excellence and societal service. The Vice-Chancellor presented the Annual Report for the academic year 2024–25, outlining key achievements in accreditation and national rankings, research productivity, faculty and student accomplishments, institutional social responsibility initiatives, and comprehensive student welfare measures.
Day 1 of the Convocation was graced by Dr. Amar Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director, Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital Group, who served as the Chief Guest and emphasized the importance of lifelong learning, discipline, innovation, and perseverance in professional life. Day 2 featured Dr. Manoj Murhekar, Director and Scientist ‘G’, Indian Council of Medical Research – National Institute of Epidemiology, who delivered an inspiring Convocation Address underscoring scientific rigor, ethical responsibility, and leadership in public health. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Nihal Thomas, Head, Centre for Stem Cell Research, Christian Medical College, Vellore, was conferred the Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to diabetology and translational medical research.
During the ceremony, a total of 1,257 graduates, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. scholars, were awarded their degrees. In recognition of academic excellence, 103 meritorious students received medals and certificates. Prestigious institutional awards were also conferred, including the Jayanthi Radhakrishnan Award for Exemplary Humanitarian Service to Mr. S. Ayyappan, Headmaster, Government Tribal Residential School, Udumalpet; the Gomathi Radhakrishnan Distinguished Alumni Award 2025 to ten distinguished alumni; and the Akash Prabhakar Distinguished Sportsperson Award to Ms. Shiny Gladssia, final-year B.B.A. student.
The Convocation Ceremony witnessed the participation of over 4,000 parents, faculty members, alumni, and well-wishers, making it a memorable and proud occasion as the graduating students stepped forward to embrace their professional journeys, carrying with them the values of integrity, commitment, and excellence.
