Meenakshi College of Allied Health Sciences Hosts State-Level CardioSympo–2025 on Emerging Trends in Cardiovascular Care

The Department of Cardiovascular Technology, Meenakshi College of Allied Health Sciences, successfully organized a one-day State Level Symposium titled CardioSympo – 2025 on 18 December 2025, centered on the theme “Advances, Challenges & Future Directions.” The symposium was envisioned to address contemporary clinical challenges in cardiology while exploring emerging trends and future opportunities in cardiovascular care. The event served as an academic platform bringing together academicians, clinicians, allied health professionals, and students to promote evidence-based practice, innovation, and interdisciplinary learning.

The program commenced with an inaugural address by Prof. Dr. V. Ramnath, Principal, who set the tone for the symposium by emphasizing the evolving role of cardiovascular technologists and the importance of continuous professional development in improving patient outcomes.

Session 1 featured an enlightening lecture by Ms. Subashini B., Assistant Professor, Aarupadi Veedu Medical College & Hospital, Puducherry, who provided a comprehensive overview of advances, challenges, and future directions in cardiology. This session was followed by engaging oral presentations on “Innovative Diagnostic Approaches in Cardiology and the Impact of Allied Health Professionals,” and poster presentations on “Cardiovascular Diseases in Young Adults: Rising Trends and Preventive Strategies,” encouraging scholarly discussion and critical thinking among participants.

Session 2 included an interactive lecture on ECG interpretation by Ms. Subashini B., which significantly enhanced participants’ diagnostic skills through practical insights and case-based discussion. Session 3 showcased a detailed Cath Lab Equipment Display and Interpretation by Mr. Manikandan, Cath Lab Technician, MMCHRI, highlighting equipment functionality, workflow processes, and the crucial role of allied health professionals in interventional cardiology settings.

Session 4 focused on hands-on echocardiography training conducted by Mrs. Shining Rose S. and Ms. Jayakodi, Assistant Professors, Department of Cardiovascular Technology, MCAHS. This practical session provided participants with valuable exposure to echocardiographic techniques, strengthening their clinical competencies.

The symposium concluded with a valedictory session during which winners of the oral and poster presentations were announced, and certificates and prizes were distributed to all participants. A total of 173 participants, including external delegates from allied health science colleges across Puducherry, Trichy, Thindivanam, and Salem, along with internal students and faculty members, benefited from the program.
