Meenakshi College of Allied Health Sciences NSS Unit Conducts Beach Cleanup Drive at Marina Beach

The NSS Unit of Meenakshi College of Allied Health Sciences, MAHER, organized an outreach programme in collaboration with the Environmentalist Foundation of India (EFI) at Marina Beach. The initiative was undertaken to promote environmental responsibility and reinforce the importance of sustainable practices through community engagement.

The EFI team conducted an informative orientation session prior to the cleanup activity, emphasizing the significance of environmental cleanliness, marine ecosystem protection, and the role of public participation in sustaining natural resources. The session also highlighted how consistent community-driven efforts can reduce pollution and protect coastal biodiversity.

A total of 25 students and two faculty members actively participated in the beach cleaning drive. Equipped with sack bags and safety measures, the volunteers collected a substantial quantity of waste from the shoreline, contributing meaningfully to the restoration of the coastal environment. The activity served as a hands-on learning experience, sensitizing students to the environmental impact of littering and the urgency of sustainable waste management.

The programme reinforced the message that responsible environmental behavior begins with individual action and collective commitment. Through such initiatives, students are encouraged to become proactive ambassadors of ecological conservation and sustainable living practices within society.
