Meenakshi College of Allied Health Sciences Observes World Tuberculosis Day with Awareness and Respiratory Health Session

World Tuberculosis Day was observed on 24th March 2026 at the AHS Lecture Hall, Meenakshi College of Allied Health Sciences (MCAHS), Enathur, Kanchipuram, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness about tuberculosis (TB), emphasizing its prevention, early diagnosis, and effective management among students and future healthcare professionals. Around 100 first-year students actively participated in the awareness session.

The programme featured interactive discussions that enhanced students’ understanding of preventive strategies, respiratory health, and patient education related to tuberculosis. Prof. Dr. B. Durga, Vice Principal, MCAHS, addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of respiratory endurance and lung health. She encouraged students to adopt simple daily exercises to improve lung capacity and overall respiratory well-being.

As part of the programme, students from the Respiratory Department conducted a practical demonstration on the use of a Peak Expiratory Flowmeter. The hands-on session provided valuable insights into respiratory assessment techniques and emphasized their role in the management of tuberculosis and other pulmonary conditions.

The programme concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, contributing to greater awareness and improved understanding of tuberculosis and respiratory care.
