The Meenakshi College of Arts and Science (MCAS), MAHER, organized an industrial visit to URBASER SUMEET, Alandur, Chennai, on 29th June 2026 for final-year students and faculty members. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to modern solid waste management practices and promote awareness of environmental sustainability.
Approximately 50 students from B.Sc. Computer Science, BCA, B.Com. General, B.Com. Computer Applications, and B.Com. Corporate Secretaryship enthusiastically participated in the programme. As part of the visit, students attended an informative guest lecture on “Solid Waste Management Awareness,” which provided valuable insights into waste collection, segregation, processing, recycling, and sustainable disposal methods adopted in and around Chennai city.
The industrial visit enabled students to observe real-world waste management operations, bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry practices. It also enhanced their understanding of environmental responsibility, sustainable urban development, and the importance of efficient waste management systems in protecting public health and the environment.
The programme was coordinated by Mrs. S. Malarvizhi, Department of Commerce, and Mrs. R. Arivukkodi, Department of Computer Science and Applications. The visit proved to be a highly enriching learning experience, broadening students’ practical knowledge and fostering greater awareness of sustainable environmental practices.
