Meenakshi College of Nursing Conducts International Women’s Day Awareness Programme on Self-Hygienic Practices

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Meenakshi College of Nursing organized an Awareness Programme on Self-Hygienic Practices for Women on 7th March 2026, in collaboration with Clean Green and FEMI-9.

The programme began with a soulful invocation by the college choir, followed by a welcome address delivered by Mrs. Muthulakshmi V., Assistant Professor, MCON. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj, Principal, MCON, who emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment through confidence, education, and self-reliance. She highlighted the challenges faced by women in society and encouraged participants to overcome them through awareness, resilience, and mutual support.

As part of the celebration, students Mr. Abijith and Ms. Rohithita Raj recited a poem reflecting the significance and contributions of women in society. Dr. Thephilah Cathrine R., Associate Professor, MCON, delivered an insightful talk on women’s achievements and their progress across various fields.

The resource person, Mrs. Sowmiya, created awareness on menstrual hygiene by explaining the uses and benefits of FEMI-9 products. This was followed by Mrs. Jenifer Caroline, who elaborated on the biodegradable nature of the products and conducted a demonstration on their usage, promoting sustainable and hygienic practices.

An engaging debate on the topic “Women’s Growth: Has It Brought Challenges or No Changes?” encouraged active student participation and thoughtful discussion.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by the National Anthem. A total of 134 students and 11 faculty members benefited from the programme, which effectively promoted awareness on hygiene, empowerment, and women’s health.
