Meenakshi College of Nursing (MCON), MAHER, in collaboration with RLG by Reconomy (Clean to Green), conducted a Plastic-Free Environment and E-Awareness Programme on 7th August 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. The initiative aimed to spread awareness about the harmful effects of single-use plastics while promoting eco-friendly practices and responsible digital behavior.
A total of 97 students, 7 faculty members, and 5 non-teaching staff participated in the programme, which was coordinated by Dr. Thephilah Cathrine R, ISO Coordinator, MCON. The event began with a welcome address by Ms. Nancy Neha (B.Sc. Nursing – I Year), followed by a keynote address from Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj, Principal, MCON, who urged everyone to adopt sustainable habits and inspire others to follow suit.
Mr. Manova Marcus, Senior Volunteer, RLG by Reconomy, delivered an engaging session on the urgent need to move towards a plastic-free lifestyle, highlighting the long-term environmental impact of single-use plastics. He emphasized the three R’s – Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle – encouraging participants to choose sustainable alternatives in daily life.
Ms. Janifer Caroline Rajakumari, Environmental Consultant, RLG by Reconomy, focused on the importance of digital responsibility for students, faculty, and staff. Topics covered included cyber safety, digital ethics, safe internet practices, and leveraging technology to support green initiatives.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Sanjay S. R (B.Sc. Nursing – I Year). Interactive and insightful, the session left participants motivated to take small but meaningful steps toward a sustainable and digitally responsible future.
