Meenakshi College of Nursing Hosts Value Added Course on Nurse Entrepreneurship

From May 19th to 23rd, 2025, Meenakshi College of Nursing, MAHER, conducted a Value Added Course titled “Nurse Entrepreneur” for final-year nursing students. The course aimed to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset among nursing professionals and to introduce students to emerging business opportunities within the healthcare sector.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj, Principal of Meenakshi College of Nursing, who addressed the students on the growing need for innovation, leadership, and business acumen in modern nursing practice. She encouraged students to envision roles beyond traditional clinical care and to become proactive contributors to healthcare innovation.

The course featured expert sessions by notable guest speakers, including Dr. Udaya Kumar, CEO of Impetus Healthcare Skills Pvt. Ltd., and Mr. Surendhar Babu, a specialist in Stoma and Wound Care Therapy. Both speakers offered valuable insights and shared real-world experiences that showcased the diverse entrepreneurial pathways available in the healthcare industry. In addition, faculty members from the college delivered focused sessions on nurse-led innovation, healthcare business models, and strategies for professional development.

Coordinated by Dr. Kavitha M, Professor at MCON, the course saw enthusiastic participation from students who appreciated the relevance and depth of the topics covered. Many students shared that the course expanded their perspectives on career possibilities and provided them with the knowledge and confidence to explore entrepreneurial ventures in healthcare.

The program concluded with the distribution of certificates of completion to all participating students, recognizing their active involvement and commitment to learning.
