The NSS Unit of Meenakshi College of Nursing, MAHER, actively participated in the “Start Run Stop Drug” Anti-Drug Run 2026, organized by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu on 26th June 2026 in Chennai to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event aimed to create widespread awareness among youth and the general public about the harmful effects of drug abuse while promoting a healthy and drug-free society.
The marathon commenced at Anna Memorial and was flagged off by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru M. K. Stalin, who also administered the anti-drug pledge to the participants and joined the awareness run. The 6-kilometre marathon, extending from Anna Memorial to Island Grounds, conveyed a strong message encouraging individuals, especially young people, to stay away from drugs and embrace a healthy lifestyle through sports and fitness.
A total of 50 NSS volunteers from Meenakshi College of Nursing enthusiastically participated in the awareness run, demonstrating their commitment to the national campaign against substance abuse. The event served as a powerful platform to reinforce the importance of collective action in preventing drug abuse and inspiring communities to work together towards building a healthier, safer, and drug-free future.
