Meenakshi College of Nursing Observes Anti-Ragging Awareness Week with Active Student Participation

The Anti-Ragging Committee of Meenakshi College of Nursing (MCON) organized a week-long Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme from 12th to 18th August 2025, aimed at sensitizing students to the consequences of ragging and strengthening the institution’s commitment to a ragging-free campus.

The programme was inaugurated on 12th August 2025 with a keynote address by Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj, Principal, MCON, who emphasized the ethical, legal, and personal implications of ragging in the academic environment. This was followed by a session by Mrs. Benninal, Advocate, who addressed the gathering on the legal consequences of ragging and reiterated the institution’s zero-tolerance policy.

As part of the student-centric activities, an elocution competition on the theme “From Fear to Friendship: Fostering an Inclusive and Respectful College Environment” was held on 13th August 2025, with 13 students participating. The three best speakers were recognized with prizes. On 14th August 2025, a slogan-writing competition witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 18 students, who penned creative and thought-provoking slogans to promote the anti-ragging movement. The best three entries were awarded prizes.

The valedictory session on 18th August 2025 featured short anti-ragging video clips from the UGC portal, followed by the Anti-Ragging Pledge taken by all participants. The programme concluded with the National Anthem, marking the end of a week filled with awareness and engagement.

The entire event was coordinated by Dr. Kavitha M., Professor, MCON. The Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme served as a powerful platform to educate, engage, and empower students to foster a culture of respect, inclusiveness, and safety. The series of events not only sensitized students to the grave consequences of ragging but also inspired them to become active ambassadors of a ragging-free campus.
