Meenakshi College of Nursing Observes Breastfeeding Awareness Program

Meenakshi College of Nursing, MAHER, in collaboration with Kundrathur UPHC, conducted a Breastfeeding Awareness Program on 7th August 2025 under the theme “Invest in Breastfeeding, Invest in Future”. The event, held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., brought together 20 students, 2 faculty members, and 15 mothers, with the primary aim of highlighting the importance of breastfeeding and its long-term benefits for both mother and child.

The program commenced with a warm welcome by Mrs. Aarthi, who spoke on the significance of World Breastfeeding Week and the vital role breastfeeding plays in child development, maternal health, and overall family well-being. Students then took an active role in explaining educational charts they had prepared, covering topics such as breastfeeding techniques, breastmilk composition, baby positioning, calorie needs, and methods for expressing breastmilk.

A visual display on postpartum diet showcased nutritious foods essential for lactating mothers to maintain their health and support optimal milk production. The session also featured an engaging interactive Q&A, where prizes were awarded to mothers who answered correctly, making the program both informative and participatory.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ms. Muthuselvi, who expressed gratitude to the health centre staff, students, and participants for their contributions to the program’s success.
