To mark World Suicide Prevention Day, Meenakshi College of Nursing organized a program on 10th September 2025, between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., with the theme “Changing the Narrative on Suicide.” The event aimed to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote open conversations on mental health and suicide prevention.
The program commenced with a welcome address delivered by Mr. Sagar C, a third-year B.Sc. Nursing student. This was followed by a keynote address by Dr. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj, Principal, MCON, who emphasized suicide awareness and coping strategies for students.
The awareness activities included a rally with placards carrying impactful messages, a human chain symbolizing unity and collective support, and dedicated counselling sessions for newly admitted students from Jammu & Kashmir.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Abishek, a third-year B.Sc. Nursing student, followed by the National Anthem. The program fostered empathy, encouraged proactive mental health support, and reinforced the importance of creating a compassionate and stigma-free environment.
